Since 1975, Insulation Man is an insulation company that is focused on saving homeowners in Binghamton on their energy, heating, and cooling costs through insulation and air sealing solutions as well as heat pump and HVAC upgrades. We are the local experts on whole-home comfort and energy usage, and we’re a participating contractor with the NYSERDA Empower+ Program!
Our History
In 1975, Insulation Man was established under its first name, The Foam Man. Starting with just one man, John Gorshack, and one truck, we helped homeowners save energy and maximize home comfort in the Southern Tier of New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 1989, Pat Dundon would acquire the company as Insulation Man, where he developed home solutions that are now acknowledged and installed by other contractors all over the country.
Cut to 2015, and the company is purchased by longtime Insulation Man employee Susan Gahagan and Dave Currie. One year later Insulation Man is granted WBE (Woman Business Enterprise) certification. In 2020, Susan takes sole ownership of the company.

As the president and CEO of Insulation Man for the past 10 years, Susan stays hands-on while moving the company forward as a locally owned and operated business in Binghamton. She maintains a commitment to the values the company started with while looking forward to evolving building practices and innovations in installation.

WBE CERTIFIED
Insulation Man LLC couldn’t be prouder to be awarded the WBE certification. WBE Certification stands for Woman Business Enterprise and denotes that a woman (or women) has majority ownership and control of a business entity. Obtaining this certification is an important development for our overall business strategy for two major reasons: The WBE Certification is the only way to have confidence that a business representing itself as woman-owned is, in fact, woman-owned and controlled.
NYSERDA
Insulation Man is a participating contractor in the NYSERDA Comfort Home Program, as well as many of the other rebate programs under the NYSERDA umbrella, all aimed at making it more affordable for homeowners to make their homes more energy efficient.
BPI CERTIFIED
The Building Performance Institute (BPI) is the nation’s leading building science accreditation organization. The “house as a system” philosophy looks at a building’s various components (building envelope, attic, basement, combustion equipment, ventilation sources) and the interrelationship between them to maximize a home’s performance. This approach leads to greater energy efficiency, as well as buildings that simply work better. A home that has been analyzed and upgraded from a whole-house standpoint is more durable, healthier, comfortable, and energy efficient. Insulation Man is a member of the SPFA, a collective voice, including educational and technical resources, that provides a wide variety of services to the spray polyurethane foam industry.
